Starting the year again

This post started off as a New Year look ahead to all my sewing projects in 2016. Admittedly, 9th Jan was a bit late for a New Year blog post, but I was squeezing it in while my little boy had a nap. He'd had chicken pox for a few days and was very fed up. When he woke up he had a strange swelling on his forehead. I spent the next couple of hours trying to get hold of an out-of-hours GP. By midnight he'd been admitted to hospital with facial cellulitis. It was 10 days, 4 canulas, a vat of antibiotics, 4 trips to the eye clinic, minor surgery and a couple of weeks at home before he was better.

Now it's February and I'm starting to come out of the haze. As you can imagine, sewing did not get a look in during that time. Even though he's better and back at nursery I'm still feeling guilty about picking up a needle and thread again. But I have my beautiful new sewing machine (thanks to my lovely late Granny), some cool new labels to attach to my creations and a new bag-making course to start this evening. Time to get back in the saddle!

  1. I have major sewing machine envy! Beautiful. Love the labels too - what a lovely idea. Where did you have those made? x

    1. Aww, thanks. They were super-cheap woven school name labels from eBay (£3.25 for 72 inc. postage). I'm playing around with sewing them onto different fabric backgrounds to look a little less school-y :-)
